How to Disable Java in Browsers

At the moment (Nov 2012) Java is a very serious security vulnerability in browsers. It's safest to uninstall Java completely, but if you need it (for eg. OpenOffice) it's best to disable it from all your browsers.

Open Tools menu → Add-ons
Select Plugins tab
Disable Java *

Chrome

Go to the address chrome://plugins
Disable Java *

Internet Explorer

Press Win + R
Type regedit and press Enter
Search for key UseJava2IExplorer
Set it to 0 (zero) instead of 1

Opera

Disable Java *

Safari

Open Safari menu → Preferences
Select Security tab
Uncheck Enable Java
